Formula and methodology
Formula: range = max-min; midrange = (max+min)/2; coefficient of range = (max-min)/(max+min).
These compact spread measures use only the observed endpoints. The coefficient of range scales the endpoint gap by the endpoint sum, allowing a dimensionless comparison between positive datasets.
