Formula and methodology
Formula: Round proxy = diameter² × depth × round coefficient; fancy-shape proxy = length × width × depth × shape coefficient; adjusted estimate = proxy × (1 + proportion adjustment ÷ 100).
The estimator uses shape-specific planning coefficients for millimetre dimensions, then converts carats to points and grams. The coefficients represent an approximate size-to-weight model; actual carat weight must be measured because cut proportions and hidden weight vary.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- All dimensions are entered in millimetres and describe the same stone.
- Round uses diameter and depth; other shapes use length, width, and depth.
- The coefficient is an approximate shape model, not a grading-laboratory calibration for an individual stone.
- The optional adjustment represents a user-documented proportion difference and is limited to a transparent range.
- One metric carat is treated as 0.2 grams and one carat as 100 points.
- The estimate does not calculate price, color, clarity, cut grade, fluorescence, treatments, mounting effects, or authenticity.
- A loose stone should be weighed on a calibrated balance and professionally documented when accuracy or value matters.
