Formula and methodology
Formula: H = f²/(Nc)+f; near = Hs/(H+s−f); far = Hs/(H−s+f), with all optical distances in millimetres.
The thin-lens depth-of-field approximation uses a chosen acceptable circle of confusion to turn focus settings into near and far limits.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
