Formula and methodology
Formula: rate = 2/life; yearly expense = rate * start-book, capped so book never falls below salvage.
Early years take larger charges that shrink as book value falls. The final years are capped so the schedule lands exactly on salvage instead of depreciating past it.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
