Formula and methodology
Formula: δ = ε sin(2π(N−81)/365); day length = (24/π) acos(−tan φ tan δ), with polar cases clipped to 0 or 24 hours.
The result is a transparent seasonal estimate based on solar declination and latitude, not a local sunrise clock or weather forecast.

Assumptions and limits
- Latitude is geographic latitude, day number uses a 365-day seasonal approximation, and angles are degrees in the interface.
- The horizon is ideal and atmospheric refraction, elevation, longitude, time zone, and terrain are not included.
- Polar day and polar night are reported by clipping the geometric hour-angle condition rather than forcing an invalid inverse cosine.
