Formula and methodology
Formula: Projected usage = daily usage × active days × (1 + overhead percentage ÷ 100); plan share = projected usage ÷ allowance × 100; remaining allowance = allowance − projected usage.
A data plan is easier to manage when the daily pattern, planning period, and overhead assumption are visible. This page uses the selected decimal or binary unit consistently and does not infer a carrier's definition, throttling policy, rollover rule, or billing cycle.

Assumptions and limits
- Daily usage is an average for the entered planning period, not a guaranteed daily cap.
- The overhead percentage is a user-entered planning margin for protocol overhead, measurement differences, updates, or uncounted activity.
- MB and GB use decimal multiples while GiB uses the binary unit; no silent conversion occurs between them.
- The plan allowance and projected usage use the same selected unit.
- A negative remaining allowance means the scenario exceeds the entered allowance; it is not a carrier bill or penalty forecast.
- Shared devices, background updates, tethering, video quality, and network policies can change actual consumption.
- The calculator does not identify a best plan or access a live account balance.
