Formula and methodology
Formula: zone lower and upper bounds=FTP×the selected zone percentage bounds.
Power zones are a percentage transformation of the FTP entered by the user. The two displayed schemes are planning ranges; they are not a universal coaching standard and should be labeled when shared.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Functional threshold power — W; minimum 1; maximum 3000
- Zone scheme — 2 choices
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Functional threshold power | 250 |
| Zone scheme | five |
The five-zone table begins with 0–55 W and ends with a top zone above 300 W.
Assumptions and limits
- FTP is entered in watts and is a current, valid reference for the scenario.
- The selected percentage bands are simplified planning bands.
- Fatigue, testing error, device calibration, and coaching context are not evaluated.
