Formula and methodology
Formula: Screening hours = applicants × minutes per review ÷ 60; shortlisted candidates = ceiling(applicants × shortlist percentage ÷ 100); interview hours = shortlisted candidates × interviews per candidate × minutes per interview ÷ 60; total hours = screening hours + interview hours; workdays = total hours ÷ workday hours.
This planning calculator separates the broad first-pass review from the smaller interview workload. It rounds the number of shortlisted people upward because a real schedule cannot interview a fraction of a person. The result is a capacity estimate, not a hiring-quality score, a promise of selection fairness, or a legal recommendation about recruiting practice.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- Every applicant takes the same entered review time and every shortlisted person receives the same number and length of interviews.
- Shortlisting is represented by a planning percentage and is rounded upward to a whole candidate when applicants produce a fraction.
- The workday value is available productive scheduling time, not a mandatory working-hours or labor-law rule.
- Panel coordination, candidate communication, preparation, breaks, rescheduling, sourcing, assessments, and approvals are outside the arithmetic.
- The calculator does not score people, infer job suitability, or recommend an employment decision.
- Use inclusive, documented recruiting processes and local employment guidance for real hiring operations.
