Formula and methodology
Formula: Crosstalk ratio = coupled voltage ÷ source voltage; crosstalk dB = 20log10(ratio); coupled percentage = 100 × ratio; isolation magnitude = −crosstalk dB when crosstalk is negative.
Crosstalk is a measurement of unwanted signal coupling, not a universal property that can be inferred from a product name. The calculator uses measured or simulated voltages and the voltage-ratio decibel convention, leaving frequency, impedance, channel geometry, and test setup to the visitor’s data.

Assumptions and limits
- Both voltages are comparable amplitudes measured with the same convention and test setup.
- The source voltage is positive and nonzero; the coupled voltage is positive so its logarithm is defined.
- The 20log10 rule is used for a voltage ratio, not the 10log10 rule for a power ratio.
- The result does not model frequency-dependent coupling, phase, impedance mismatch, shielding, layout, or a specific standard limit.
- A more negative crosstalk value indicates a smaller coupled voltage under this sign convention.
- Use the instrument, interface, or cable standard relevant to the actual system when deciding whether the measured result passes.
