Formula and methodology
Formula: Hz = cps; Hz = rpm / 60; period in seconds = 1 / Hz.
A cycle rate and a frequency describe the same repeating count per second. RPM expresses the same idea per minute, so dividing by 60 places it on the hertz scale before the reciprocal gives the duration of one cycle.
