Formula and methodology
Formula: Wall area = length × height; blocks = ceil(wall area/(block face area) × (1+waste)).
The estimate uses the visible face of each block and rounds the order count up to whole units.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Wall length — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Wall height — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Block face length — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Block face height — m; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Waste allowance — %; minimum 0; maximum 1000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Wall length | 10 |
| Wall height | 2 |
| Block face length | 0.4 |
| Block face height | 0.2 |
| Waste allowance | 5 |
Wall area = 20 m²; blocks = 263.
Assumptions and limits
- Dimensions use metres and every block has the selected rectangular face.
- Mortar joints, openings, cuts, corners, reinforcement, and local masonry practice are not modeled.
- The result is a material planning count, not a structural design.
