Formula and methodology
Formula: Room volume V = LWH; added CO₂ fraction x = (target ppm − current ppm)/1,000,000; added gas volume = Vx; with the ideal-gas law n = PV/(RT), mass = nM using M(CO₂) = 44.0095 g/mol.
This calculator turns a concentration change into a theoretical amount of carbon dioxide in a room-sized volume. It uses absolute pressure and Kelvin temperature for the ideal-gas conversion, then reports the result in cubic meters, moles, and kilograms. It intentionally does not estimate leakage, ventilation, plant uptake, regulator flow, cylinder size, or a safe operating set point.

A 240 m³ room raised by 580 ppm contains about 0.1392 m³ of added CO₂ at the stated conditions, or about 0.256 mol and 11.3 g in the idealized calculation.
Assumptions and limits
- The room is represented as a rectangular volume with a uniform gas concentration before and after the change.
- The added CO₂ is treated as an ideal gas at the entered absolute pressure and temperature; real delivery systems require separate engineering allowances.
- This is a quantity estimate, not a recommendation to release gas; monitoring, ventilation, local rules, and confined-space safety remain outside the calculation.
