Formula and methodology
Formula: For each possible root, subtract the root pitch class from every distinct entered pitch class modulo 12 and compare the set with known chord templates.
Chord identification is an inverse problem: the entered notes are tested against common interval templates with each note considered as a possible root. The result reports every exact common-template match so inversions do not change the underlying chord identity.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
