Formula and methodology
Formula: Total chocolate mass = servings×grams per serving; each nutrient total = total mass×label value per 100 g÷100; per-serving nutrient = grams per serving×label value per 100 g÷100.
Chocolate varies by cocoa percentage, recipe, filling, brand, and serving size. This calculator does not guess whether a product is dark, milk, or white; it scales the values printed on the product label or a selected food-composition record. That keeps the arithmetic useful worldwide while making the source of the nutrition numbers explicit.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Servings — servings; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000
- Chocolate per serving — g; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 100000
- Calories per 100 g — kcal/100 g; minimum 0; maximum 10000
- Fat per 100 g — g/100 g; minimum 0; maximum 1000
- Carbohydrate per 100 g — g/100 g; minimum 0; maximum 1000
- Sugars per 100 g — g/100 g; minimum 0; maximum 1000
- Protein per 100 g — g/100 g; minimum 0; maximum 1000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Servings | 4 |
| Chocolate per serving | 30 |
| Calories per 100 g | 550 |
| Fat per 100 g | 35 |
| Carbohydrate per 100 g | 55 |
| Sugars per 100 g | 45 |
| Protein per 100 g | 7 |
Four servings represent 120 g: 660 kcal, 42 g fat, 66 g carbohydrate, 54 g sugars, and 8.4 g protein in total.
Assumptions and limits
- The entered nutrient values describe the same chocolate product and are expressed per 100 g.
- Calories are reported as kilocalories and other nutrients as grams.
- Serving mass is a planning input and does not define a medically appropriate portion.
- The tool does not infer micronutrients, allergens, caffeine, glycemic response, or health effects.
- Rounding and label conventions can make independently printed nutrient values differ slightly.
- Use the package label for a branded product when it is available; FoodData Central values are reference data rather than a guarantee for every bar.
- This is nutrition arithmetic and not dietary, medical, or weight-management advice.
