Formula and methodology
Formula: Energy removed Q = drink mass×drink specific heat×(initial temperature−target temperature); ice mass = Q/[latent heat + ice specific heat×(target temperature−ice temperature)].
The model balances the drink's lost sensible heat against ice warming to the target temperature and melting. All thermal properties are visible inputs so the visitor can replace the water-like defaults with a measured or documented approximation.

Assumptions and limits
- The drink is treated as one well-mixed body with constant specific heat and the ice fully melts at the target temperature.

- Heat exchange with the container, air, stirring, evaporation, dilution, and non-water ingredients are excluded.
