Formula and methodology
Formula: Child–Pugh total = bilirubin points + albumin points + INR points + ascites points + encephalopathy points; totals range from 5 to 15.
The calculator adds the five one-to-three point components and assigns the conventional A, B, or C class context. Ascites and encephalopathy are clinical judgments, so their selections are not inferred from laboratory values.
