Formula and methodology
Formula: Calories = MET x 3.5 x body mass in kg / 200 x minutes.
MET values make the activity assumption visible and allow the estimate to be compared across activities without implying a measured personal burn rate.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Activity — 8 choices
- Body weight — kg; minimum 20; maximum 350
- Duration — minutes; minimum 1; maximum 1440
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Activity | walking_brisk |
| Body weight | 70 |
| Duration | 45 |
The calculator applies the brisk-walking MET value to estimate activity calories.
Assumptions and limits
- The selected activity is performed at a reasonably steady intensity for the entered duration.
- The result is an adult planning estimate; actual energy use varies with intensity, terrain, fitness, equipment, and body composition.
