Formula and methodology
Formula: Operating income = sum of four operating streams; total income = operating income + interest + grants/donations + other income; total expenses = one-time costs + salaries + recurring expenses; budget balance = total income − total expenses; simple margin = budget balance ÷ total income × 100.
This is a planning worksheet for one consistent period, such as a month or quarter. Income streams remain separate so a visitor can see what is recurring or non-operating, while setup costs are kept apart from salaries and recurring expenses. The result is a planning balance, not an accounting statement or a cash forecast with timing, tax, depreciation, or working-capital schedules.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- Every input uses the same time period and currency units.
- The four operating income fields represent separate streams and may be set to zero when unused.
- Grants, donations, interest, and other income are treated as receipts for this planning period without legal or accounting classification advice.
- One-time costs are deducted in the same period as recurring expenses for a conservative simple balance.
- The margin is a planning ratio based on total entered income and is undefined when total income is zero.
- Taxes, depreciation, inventory, receivables, payables, financing flows, seasonality, and accrual-versus-cash timing are not inferred.
