Formula and methodology
Formula: Blended rate = (amount₁×rate₁+amount₂×rate₂)/(amount₁+amount₂).
The balance weights are kept visible so a larger balance has proportionally more influence than a simple average.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- First balance — currency; minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
- First rate — %; minimum -100; maximum 1000
- Second balance — currency; minimum 0; maximum 1000000000
- Second rate — %; minimum -100; maximum 1000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| First balance | 10000 |
| First rate | 5 |
| Second balance | 5000 |
| Second rate | 8 |
Blended rate = 6%.
Assumptions and limits
- At least one balance is positive and rates use the same annual percentage convention.
- The rate is a weighted comparison, not a new contract or compounding schedule.
- Fees, timing, credit risk, taxes, and repayment terms are not modeled.
