Formula: Absorbance A = epsilon l c; transmittance T = 10^(-A); percent transmittance = 100T.
The Beer-Lambert relationship connects absorbance with concentration, optical path length, and molar absorptivity for an idealized measurement. Real instruments and samples can depart from the model because of scattering, chemical changes, stray light, or concentration limits.
