Formula and methodology
Formula: Mean = sum(values) / n; median = middle sorted value, or average of the two middle values when n is even.
The arithmetic mean gives each observation equal weight. The median locates the center after sorting and is less affected by outliers. Count and total help check that the input was interpreted correctly; compensated summation reduces loss of small terms when positive and negative values cancel.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.

Assumptions and limits
- At least one observation is required; repeated observations count separately.
- Each token must be a complete finite decimal or scientific-notation number. Blank entries and nonnumeric suffixes are rejected.
- Lists are limited to 1,000 observations and 32,000 characters. No thousands separators, missing-value markers, or weights are accepted.
