Formula and methodology
Formula: C = 180° - A - B; b = a sin(B)/sin(A); c = a sin(C)/sin(A); area = ab sin(C)/2.
The two entered angles determine the third angle. The law of sines then scales the other side lengths from the known side, and the included angle gives the area.
This result follows the calculator's declared inputs, precision, validation boundaries, and model limits.
Input contract
- Angle A — °; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 179.999999
- Angle B — °; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 179.999999
- Side a opposite angle A — units; minimum 1.0E-6; maximum 1000000000
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Angle A | 50 |
| Angle B | 60 |
| Side a opposite angle A | 10 |
Third angle: 70°; side b: about 11.29 units; side c: about 11.41 units.
Assumptions and limits
- Angles are interior Euclidean triangle angles in degrees and must total less than 180°.
- Side a is opposite angle A and all side lengths use the same unit.
- The calculator solves one valid ASA triangle; it does not handle measurement uncertainty or spherical triangles.
